Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which beatings, nonpayment of child support and petty theft are put in the category of administrative offences. Relevant document posted by on the official portal of legal information.

According to the document, the beatings are excluded from the Criminal code of Russia, if they did not entail consequences indicated in article 115 of the criminal code (infliction of willful light damage to health). In this case, the offence carries a penalty of 5-30 thousand rubles or administrative arrest to 10 or 15 days, or compulsory work for a period of 60 to 120 hours.

Failure to pay child support, according to the law, will be punished by compulsory works for a term up to 150 hours or administrative arrest for the term from 10 to 15 days.
