The deputies of Kyiv city Council on Thursday, July 7, voted to rename Moskovsky Avenue in Kyiv at the prospect of Stepan Bandera. This was reported in his Facebook MP Yuriy syrotiuk (the nationalist party “Freedom”).
“Hurrah! Kiev is the prospect of Stepan Bandera (instead of Moscow)! “For” — 87 of 97 attendees. Against — no one. Glory To Ukraine!” — he wrote. Syrotiuk also said that the street of Kutuzov in Kiev, renamed the street of General Almazov, pereulok Kutuzova lane in Eugene Gutsalo, street Suvorov Mikhail Emelyanovich-Pavlenko.
“We have to wait Avenue Shukhevych”, — said syrotiuk.
In March, the renaming of the Moscow prospectus in Bandera Avenue was supported by the Commission on names of Kyiv city state administration. At the same time, the Commission and spoke in favor of renaming the Avenue General Vatutin Avenue Roman Shukhevych.
Names of towns, streets and city facilities in Ukraine affected the implementation of the law on de-communization, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in April 2015. He suggests a ban of symbols of the Communist party, and also requires to change all geographic names that are associated with the Soviet party leadership.
In June 2014, the head of the city Commission on culture and tourism Ihor Lutsenko offered to call the name of Bandera Povitroflotskyi Avenue, where the Russian Embassy. In September of the same year the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko offered to give the prospect the name of Boris Nemtsov.
