NATO Secretary General urged Russia to stop supporting “separatists” in Ukraine

As informs Agency Reuters, speaking to journalists after Petro Poroshenko, Stoltenberg urged Russia to stop “political, military and financial support for the separatists”, who are fighting against the government army in Eastern Ukraine.

“We do not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea to Russia, and we condemn the deliberate destabilization of the situation in the East of Ukraine, where every day there is a violation of the ceasefire”, — said Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg pointed to words Poroshenko about the fact that the issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not necessary and may become relevant later. The Ukrainian President pointed out that the country still needs to implement reforms that will bring it to the requirements of the Alliance. After this, according to Poroshenko, to settle the question of Ukraine’s accession to NATO will be the citizens of the country.

Ukraine was also mentioned in the final Declaration adopted by the summit on Sunday. It was, in particular, the desire of NATO to provide additional support to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

On the eve of the Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski said that in NATO there is a growing conviction that Ukraine should in the future become a member of the Alliance.

Russia has repeatedly denied claims that Moscow is providing military support to the breakaway republics of Donbass.
