The Turkish government started the drafting of a new Constitution

The Turkish government has begun to draft a new Constitution. This was stated by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The words of the head of the government is quoted by the newspaper Sabah.

“We started the process of drafting a new Constitution,” said the Prime Minister.

The head of Turkish government said that the Party of justice and development, together with opposition Republican people’s party and the nationalist movement Party came to a consensus on making the limited amendments to the Constitution.

According to him, the development of a new basic law is “the purpose and duty of all political parties in the country.

The Prime Minister said that one of the amendments to the Constitution will be under the command of the interior Ministry of the Turkish gendarmerie and the coast guard, who were in the Armed forces.

Earlier, the government of Turkey agreed to articles 59-60 of the new fundamental law, but, according to Yildirim, the continuation of this process was not followed.

On the night of July 16, in Turkey there was a military coup attempt. The rebels took to the streets of Ankara and Istanbul tanks, aircraft attacked government buildings. In particular, the plotters seized the building of the General staff and the headquarters of intelligence. The next day the official authorities said that completely took control of the situation in the country.

The clashes killed 232 people, more than 13 thousand people have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the coup. Among them, soldiers, judges, prosecutors, teachers and other civil servants.

July 20, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the introduction of a state of emergency for three months. He explained that a special regime would not mean the introduction of the country of military rule and the lifting of the economic reforms.
