Belyaninov expressed hope for the continuation of a career in the civil service

Andrei Belyaninov, who on Thursday Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the head of the Federal customs service (FCS), hopes to continue working in the civil service. He said this when he presented the staff of FCS, the new head of service. They became Vladimir Bulavin, who till this day held a post of the Plenipotentiary in Severo-the Western Federal district.

“I hope that my career will not end the civil service”, — said the Belyaninov. “As soon as you get a new assignment, I hope it will be, we’ll meet again, but probably not in the customs uniforms”, he added (quoted by “RIA Novosti”).

Belyaninov recalled that he worked as the head of the service for over a decade. According to Belyaninov, the FCS is necessary “fresh blood” and he himself “I want to try something else,” though “sad to leave the walls that have become family.”

This is the first public appearance of the former head of the Federal customs service, after July 26, at his home and office were searched in the case of smuggling of alcohol. As reported TASS, Belyaninov found RUB 9.5 million, $390 million and €350 thousand and he, according to REN-TV, told investigators that the money are private savings, which he started doing, still doing business.

Representing the team of the new head of the Federal customs service, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich praised the work Belianinov. “Andrey for this work deserves the highest ratings. And under his leadership the entire staff of the customs service honorably performed their duties,” he said.

A case of smuggling of alcohol is being investigated since 2005. The main defendant was the St. Petersburg businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko. Belyaninov, who was searched, is a witness in the case, said yesterday the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov. “Currently, he isn’t accused of anything. He has the status of a witness, so have to comment on agencies that carry out investigative actions”, — said Peskov on Wednesday, answering the question about the possible resignation Belianinov. In most FCS, the day before his dismissal the possibility of resignation categorically denied.

A senior Federal official and close to the leadership of the FSB source said Belyaninov in early 2016 written statement of resignation.
