The day before, on 28 July, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on dismissal Belyaninov as head of the FCS and the appointment of Vladimir Bulavin, who was presidential envoy in the Northwest Federal district (SZFO).
Later, Belyaninov said he hopes to pursue a career in public service. “I hope that my career will not end in the civil service. As soon as you get a new assignment, I hope it will be, we’ll meet again, but probably not in the customs uniforms”, — he said employees of the FCS, representing the new head of the Department.

Sources said earlier that Belyaninov told me he wanted to resign several times and wrote a petition to the President, but each time it was rejected.
Yesterday, after Belyaninov was dismissed, a source in the Federal government said that the decision on resignation of the head of the FCS was taken in the beginning of the year, after he wrote another letter of resignation at own will. According to the source, the investigation of the smuggling only coincided with the planned change of the head of customs.
