Information about the Russian submarine comes amid recent reports of the Latvian media about the fact that Russia not invited Latvia, on advice of the defense ministries of the Baltic countries, which will be held in Moscow in September and which will focus on the security issues in the Baltic sea.

However, the head of the Main Department of international military cooperation of the Ministry of defense of Russia Sergey Koshelev 4 Aug denied this information. He said that the note with the invitation was transferred to the attaché of defense at the Embassy of Latvia in Russia and the military attaché at the Russian Embassy in Latvia.
