Biden called Poroshenko to avoid the escalation of tensions with Russia


The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Vice-President of the USA Joe Biden held a telephone conversation, during which discussed the tension in the Crimean Peninsula,” reads the message on the White house website.

Biden “urged President Poroshenko to do everything in his power to avoid escalation of tension.” He also noted that the U.S. “called for the same and the Russian side”.

“Both leaders reiterated their strong support for political and diplomatic solutions to restore the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, especially with full implementation of the Minsk agreements”, — stated in the message.
