A high-ranking source of the newspaper “Kommersant” in the government said the first Deputy head of the presidential administration Vyacheslav Volodin could become the speaker of the state Duma of the new convocation, and the current speaker, Sergei Naryshkin, in this case, will take the chair of Director of the foreign intelligence Service (SVR).
The interlocutors of the edition noted that this information supported the need to update senior officials of the intelligence agencies, because its Director Mikhail Fradkov headed the SVR for almost nine years. Another source close to the Naryshkin told the publication that this option is really considered. Moreover, he added that Naryshkin in the structure consider it “their” and treat him with great respect.
“Kommersant” writes that the question of whether he, after the September elections work in the state Duma or will remain at his post in the presidential administration, Volodin answered evasively. “What decision the President will make, they shall follow. I’m just that way, in my opinion. When in 2001, Yevgeny Primakov introduced me to the President, he gave me a mandate: just do not fail this man. I always adhere to this” — said Volodin.
