In the Crimea and the Northern Caucasus began exercises of missile forces of Russia

More than 11 thousand Russian troops of the missile forces deployed to field camps, which began on 18 polygons of the North Caucasus and southern Russia, including in Crimea and the Russian military bases in Armenia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the southern military district (YUVO).

During the exercise, which runs until 16 September, the gunners will hone professional skills and combat coordination units, said the press service.

In particular, the military practice of firing at single and group targets from the operational-tactical complex “Iskander-M”, self-propelled artillery “Hosta”, “acacia”, “Carnation”, “MSTA-S and Msta-B”, the reactive systems of volley fire “Hail”, “Tornado-G” and “Uragan”, self-propelled artillery “Coast”, coastal missile complexes “Bastion” and self-propelled launchers “Redoubt”.

The total number of weapons and military equipment involved in the exercise, exceeds 2,2 thousand units.

Feature field exercises of the missile forces will actively use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance and adjustment of fire, said the press service of YUVO. Compared to the same periods of previous years, the intensity of the use of drones in the tasks of artillery was increased by 3 times, the report says.

August 19, the defense Ministry reported that the Russian military began to work out the tasks for logistics for land and sea ranges in the Crimea. This training ahead of the September strategic command and staff exercises “Caucasus-2016”, which will be tested in the real state of combat and mobilization readiness of troops and forces of the district.
