To the beginning of the heating season gas reserves in underground storages (UGS) of Ukraine decided to increase to 17 billion cubic meters, said the first Vice-Premier of the government of the country Stepan Kubiv. According to him, on Thursday held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine it was decided to focus on the cold winter and increase reserves.
“Been on the agenda, how much probation — 17 billion cubic meters, or 14 billion cubic meters. We should count on the cold winter”, — said Stepan Kubiv, noting that if the frost does not happen, the remaining unused gas can be “implemented later” (quoted by “Interfax”).
The Minister of energy of Ukraine Igor Nasaliki declared that all the basic parameters stipulated by the plan of preparation for the autumn-winter heating season, already almost done. “So I want to reassure all citizens of Ukraine and to say that the problems with the preparation for the autumn-winter period is not” — said the Minister.
Earlier, the Ukrainian authorities considered that for smooth passage of the future of the heating season will be sufficient to accumulate in UGS about 14.5 billion cubic meters of gas. In mid-August of 2016, head of Board NAK “Naftogaz Ukraine” Andrew KOBOLEV said that gas injection into underground storage facilities is ahead of schedule. “We plan that at the beginning of the heating season, we accumulate approximately 14.5 billion cubic meters of gas, that would be the level which would be sufficient for a comfortable autumn-winter period,” — said KOBOLEV.
In turn, the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller said that the small volume of accumulated gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities creates risks for transit of Russian gas to Europe. “There is no reason to say that Ukraine will come to those daily regimes of pumping required to reach a volume of 17 billion And we all know how to work the gas transportation system of Ukraine, and gas in winter in underground storage in Western Ukraine, “Naftogaz of Ukraine” uses to ensure transit of Russian gas to European consumers”, — said Miller.
According to 29 August 2016, the UGS of Ukraine was accumulated 12,384 billion cubic meters of gas storage facilities were filled to approximately 40%. For 29 August was pumped in UGS of 62.42 million cubic meters of gas.
In 2015, pumping gas storage facilities of Ukraine began, according to the Association of European operators of the underground gas storages (GSE), 30 Oct.
