The number of tourist trips of Russians abroad will no longer as high as before the crisis, because Russian tourists have shifted to domestic flights, including to Crimea. In an interview with TASS said the head of the Federal tourism Agency Oleg Safonov.
“I think that this exit flow as before. The reduction of outbound tourist flow is due to the fact that the shift happened [for domestic flights], including in the Crimea”, — said Safonov.
According to him, outbound tourism will be reduced by 20-30%. “I do not like to give a preliminary assessment, but I think at 20-30 percent lower. This is a significant reduction,” — said the head of the Federal tourism Agency. Earlier in the Crimea annually traveled about 1 million people by the end of 2016 on the Peninsula is expected to 5,5-6 million domestic tourists, said Safonov and added that 10% has grown in popularity and resorts in Krasnodar region.
Among other factors, influenced the decline in outbound tourist flow in 2016, Safonov said the ban on flights to Egypt and remained in force until recently, a ban on the sale of tours to Turkey. The influence of the ruble on the popularity of holidays abroad, according to the head of the Federal tourism Agency, began to decline. According to Safonov, the high rate of foreign currency impact on the tourism industry since 2014 and is no longer a major factor.
At the end of 2015, after Russian tourists were already closed Egypt and Turkey, Safonov said in an interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” that “the need for the beach and the sea is very much enforced the stereotype of recent years, which we perceive as one’s own opinion”. “Our ancestors, even the wealthy, didn’t go massively in the foreign sea,” made this opinion the head of Federal tourism Agency.
In July 2016, Safonov said that the cost of summer holidays at Russian resorts has decreased by about 20-30%.
