Ulyukayev admitted the relationship of U.S. sanctions with pressure on the Japanese delegation

The US decision to expand sanctions could be an attempt to put pressure on the Japanese delegation before the visit to the Eastern economic forum and a meeting of leaders of Russia and Japan. This was stated by the Minister of economic development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev on the sidelines of the forum, reports “Interfax”.

“It could mean anything. Indeed, it can be timed to the summit may be an attempt to put pressure. I don’t think it would bring some economic dividends and that someone is happy,” — said the speaker.

September 1, the U.S. Treasury expanded the list of natural and legal persons against which the sanctions in connection with accession of the Crimea to Russia. In the updated list were 19 Russian companies, state enterprises and institutions and 17 individuals.

The majority (seven) of the companies targeted by the sanctions associated with the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait to the Crimea. Among them — the General contractor of construction of Crimean bridge “SGM-Bridge”, which is “daughter” of “Stroygazmontazh” Arkady Rotenberg, as well as subcontractor of the construction company Mostotrest and the number of structures “Gazprom”.

The updated list of individuals — eight of the Crimean Ministers, including first Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Mikhail Sheremet, the Minister of property and land relations Anna Anokhina, the Minister of fuel and energy Svetlana Borodulina and the Minister of economic development Valentin Demidov.

Press Secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the extension of US sanctions, said that in this matter the principle of reciprocity is the key. “It is necessary to perform that expanded, to what extent. But traditionally, this principle is a key principle of reciprocity, which we will follow,” he said. Peskov added that Russia still did not consider sanctions rhetoric constructive and promising.
