The main investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened two new criminal cases concerning hostilities in the Donbass. One of them, the investigators made “on the fact of genocide of a national group of Russian-speaking individuals, including minors, residing in the territory of the breakaway Donetsk national Republic,” reads the message of the TFR published on the website of the Committee.
Among the defendants in this case were the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and chief of General staff Viktor Muzhenko, current and former commanders of the Land forces Serhiy Popko Anatoly pushnyakov and commander of the National guard Yuriy Alleron.
According to the TFR, from January to August 2016 Poltorak, Muzhenko, R., pushnyakov and Alleron “gave criminal orders” members of the armed forces and the national guard under Ukraine on the use of heavy weapons “for the destruction of civilian infrastructure, settlements of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s Republic, as well as complete or partial destruction of a national group of Russian-speaking individuals, including minors.” In executing these orders killed at least nine people, more than 100 were injured, “partially and completely destroyed not less than 279 houses and infrastructure, said in the TFR.
The second case was initiated against the commander of the 14th mechanized brigade of Colonel Alexander Acuna, organized, according to the CCJ in April 2016 shelling with heavy weapons a checkpoint of the DNI “Elenovka”, in which four people died.
The investigative Committee recalls that continues to investigate “General criminal proceedings on the Commission of representatives of power structures of Ukraine in the Donbass grave and especially grave crimes against the peace and security of mankind of Ukraine, which has 53 criminal cases on the events in the Donbass.
On August 24 of this year, TFR has opened another case against the head of the Ministry of defense and General staff Ukraine. Then the case was brought on charges of use of prohibited means and methods of warfare. Commenting on the initiation of proceedings, then the investigation Committee also reported that the Ukrainian army carried out aimed artillery shelling of civilian infrastructure, which are not military objectives.
The August case against the Muzhenko and Poltorak was filed two days later, after the Prosecutor General of Ukraine informed the head of the defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu and 17 Russian officials on suspicion of very serious crimes against national security of Ukraine. Kiev suspects them of committing heinous crimes against the fundamentals of national security of Ukraine.
September 1, the Pechersky district court of Kiev issued a warrant for the arrest Shoigu.
