In Uzbekistan appointed acting President


The Parliament of Uzbekistan Shavkat mirzijaeva appointed interim head of state. This decision was taken at a joint meeting of the legislative chamber and the Senate, reports “Interfax”. .

Mirzijaev since 2003 held a post of the head of the government of Uzbekistan. Prior to that, he was Governor of Jizzakh and Samarkand regions. In January last year it re-approved for the post of Prime Minister after the parliamentary elections.

After the death of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who, according to official figures, died on 2 Sep mirzijaev led the Commission to its funeral.

On 6 September, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Mirziyaev. The head of state arrived in Samarkand after the summit of “twenty” in China, to honor the memory of Karimov. During the visit, Putin thanked mirzijaeva for the opportunity to visit Uzbekistan, and expressed hope that the new leadership will be able to maintain stability in the country.
