The second member of the Belarusian delegation was deprived of accreditation at the Paralympics


The international Paralympic Committee (IPC) besides the Director of the Olympic training centre in athletics in Belarus Andrei Fomochkin, which carried the Russian flag at the opening of the Paralympics in Rio, was deprived of accreditation another member of the Belarusian delegation. About it reports Belarusian news Agency BelTA with reference to Chairman of the Paralympic Committee of Belarus Oleg Shepel.

Name deprived of accreditation of the member of the delegation is not called. It is specified only that it was one of the leaders of the team.

“The international Paralympic Committee made the decision on deprivation of accreditation of the member of the Belarusian delegation, which was held during the opening ceremony of the Games with the Russian flag, as well as one of the leaders of our team. Holding a political rally during the Paralympic games is unacceptable. The Belarusian team was officially warned about the inadmissibility of such actions”,— quotes BelTA of his word.

The events unfolding after the opening of the Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro, the delegation of the Belarus national team has carried, along with their national flag the flag of Russia. Shepel later explained that the Belarusian athletes have carried the flag in solidarity with the Russian Paralympic athletes.

Press Secretary of the President of Belarus Natalia Eismont in an interview with BelTA news Agency, said that the initiative to carry the Russian flag belonged to the Belarusian delegation and called it a step state position.
