Ukraine suspended gas imports from Poland because of the accident on the pipeline

In the Lviv depressurization of the main gas pipeline, in consequence of which Ukraine suspended imports of natural gas from Poland. This was reported on Friday the press-Secretary of “Ukrtransgaz” Maxim Belyavsky, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

According to bielawski, currently in the pipeline with a diameter of 800 mm undergoing renovations. On the possible timing of completion of the work in “Ukrtransgaz” information is not available.

The power of reverse gas pipeline from Poland to Ukraine amounts to 4.3 million cubic meters per day. For the first seven days of September, gas imports from Poland amounted to 28.4 million cubic meters.

Ukrtransgaz, owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine”, operates a system of trunk pipelines and 12 underground gas storages of the country with a total capacity of 31 billion cubic meters.

Ukraine has resumed gas supplies from Poland 16 July this year. In August, the Polish PGNiG launches gas supplies for the needs of industrial consumers in Ukraine.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Poland Beata Szydlo said that Warsaw is ready together with Kiev to develop the infrastructure to transfer gas between the two countries, in particular, to consider the construction of a new Interconnector.
