The Russians began to work more and more often to hurt

Starting in 2016, Russians spend more time on workplaces in the first half of the duration of their holidays fell on average by 0.3—1.9 days, and the duration of travel of 0.3—1.5 days compared to the same period of 2015. Such estimates were made by the specialists of the outsourcing company Intercomp on the basis of data on remuneration of 16 thousand employees, 110 companies, operating in different regions of Russia — both domestic and Russian representative offices of foreign enterprises.

But hurt Russians are now working more frequently in a year (the first half of 2016 to the same period in 2015) number of days of incapacity to work of employees increased by 19.4%. In January, April and may 2016 duration of hospital 2.4—3.7 days higher than the same months of 2015. While in the first half of 2015, the workers were often sick in February and June (average of 8 and 8.33 days), then in 2016 the situation is “blurred” and the distribution of disability days by months is approximately the same (about 7 days), drew the attention of the authors of the study.

The increased incidence among working Russians, regardless of the time of year the researchers associated with the increased loads on the job. The load on the remaining employees has increased after last year’s reductions in the companies, said the HR Director at Intercomp Catherine Ovchinnikov. Now the increase in the number of sick-personal days — an objective indicator of the health of workers, and not a trick that is often used to actually afford to provide paid leave, agrees Vice-President of “Business Russia” Tatyana Mineeva. The system of issuing certificates of sickness increased and the doctors have become more cautious, she said .

From cuts and, consequently, the increased load on the remaining staff due to the reduction of the duration of vacations, says Ovchinnikov: there is a production necessity of the presence of workers on the ground to do this without significant damage to the execution of the task has become more difficult. On the other hand, many decide to postpone the vacation until better times because of the lack of funds for recreation on the desired level, the expert adds. Finally, the part of the staff refuses to leave for the sake of strengthening their positions in the team for potential cuts, says Ovchinnikov.

Mineeva reduction in the duration of holidays explains the reluctance of workers to leave: for the sake of the workplace, career growth and skills development is much more useful to recycle than to take a vacation and create blockages of the failed tasks. No self-respecting employer to prevent an employee on vacation will not said Mineeva. Companies not economically viable to reduce the vacation time of employees the amount of their cost will not change, but added risk to violate labor laws to ensure workers ‘ rights to rest, says Ovchinnikov.

Monitoring the outsourcing of the company are confirmed by official statistics: according to Rosstat, in the first half of 2016, the average actual working hours in the country increased by 0.3% compared to the same period in 2015 (to 7.23 hours), and hours worked on average per employee increased by 1.1%.

How companies save on staff

In contrast to the reduction leave the reduction of travel expenses employees — one of the ways of saving money for companies, the report said. And this is not the only expense, which the company save in 2016, it is clear from the study. To ensure that the average growth of salaries to employees of the company sacrifice some benefits (components of the social package): thus, from January to June 2016, almost half (from 40% to 24%) reduction in the number of companies providing employees with material assistance. Reduces the number of companies where pay sports (from 21% to 15%), compensate for the costs of communication services from 30% to 24%) and food (from 70% to 66%). Not growing and the share of companies where employees are provided compensation and incentive payments: most notably — from 83 to 78 per cent in the first half reduced the number of companies paying overtime. The proportion of employers offering employees health insurance unchanged, but keep in mind that this benefit is only in every fifth company, pay attention to the researchers.

Partly because of these decisions for Russian companies has led to a decline in real wages that has been observed since the second half of 2015, second quarter of 2016 ended with a slight increase, the report Intercomp. Rosstat recorded growth in real wages in the second quarter of 0.3% for the first time in seven quarters), and the nominal average salary grew in the first half by 18% (from 32.7 thousand RUB in January to 38.4 thousand in June).

But average wage growth actually achieved due to the significant (higher than the increase of the subsistence minimum, which in the first half of this year increased by 4.4%) increase in wages of two categories of workers — professionals and leading experts, the report Intercomp. Their salaries increased by 5.5 and 6.5%, respectively. Dotirovanie current professionals to higher positions researchers to increase salaries is not equated, as in this case, in fact, is the process of replacing dismissed from these positions of staff, said Ovchinnikov .

Assistants is a Pro

One employee wage increase did not cover the growth of prices for goods and executives and workers (employees “working professions”) wages even decreased by 0.5 and 2%, the report said. This situation is typical not only for Moscow, but St. Petersburg, experts say. They noted the completion of the reductions of the management personnel in companies that occurred in 2015 and early 2016. It may mean the end of business restructuring and termination of reductions in the companies as a whole, the report said.

While companies save on salaries of top managers, the management saves on highly qualified specialists, the study showed: dear employees with high skills point fire, their functionality is distributed between the cheaper labor assistants and helpers, despite the fact that assistants and helpers it needs more. As a result, the number of assistants and helpers in the companies is growing: in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the same period of 2015, it increased by 5-8%. A number of specialists in the companies is reduced — by August of this year their number has decreased by 3-5% (compared with the second half of 2015). Reduction specialists allow companies to gradually increase the salaries of the remaining staff, the researchers note.

A tendency to replace highly qualified specialists is observed in the last six months, says Ovchinnikov. A continuation of this trend experts predict Intercomp and in the foreseeable future, says an interviewee . The consequences of such staffing solutions for companies can be ambiguous, said Ovchinnikov: on the one hand, extension of areas of responsibility for assistants and assistants can become an additional motivation and impetus for career growth, lack of training (the assistants) may lead to deterioration in the quality of performed tasks.

The question of replacing experienced workers promising young staff for a long time is debatable, says Mineeva of “Business Russia”. Among the advantages of such substitution is a reduction in cash resources while maintaining productivity, the ability to obtain high-class specialists in a relatively small starting salary and opportunity in the short term “sharpen” employees under the requirements of the specific employer (experienced professionals, as a rule, are not amenable to such a “reformation”), lists companion . But it is impossible to remove professionals from the areas that are personalised: for example, if the employee determines the progress of the negotiations, or is he directly involved in sales, creates a unique product or closed a trade or whole industry, says Mineeva. In this case, there is a risk of running into heavy losses because no one, even the most promising young employee will not be able to close the position is an experienced negotiator or project Manager. Moreover, along with the professional can go and a client who has long worked directly with the contractor,” warns the expert.

In General, the situation on the labour market in Russia stabiliziruemost, said Ovchinnikov: in companies there are no cuts, no rapid growth, stabilisation of wages and the increase in the recruitment of new employees. But the end of the crisis on the labor market in Russia to speak prematurely, he said: “the labour market reflects the economic situation in General. Positive trends while the market is insufficient to make definite conclusions. Most companies continue to live in conditions of pressure on HR budgets,” she says.
