Russia made restrictions on the supply of milk and meat from Belarus

The Rosselkhoznadzor has announced temporary restrictions on the supply of Russian meat and dairy products from various regions of Belarus. The Minister noted that due to the lack of proper control by the veterinary service Department of the Belarusian products of animal origin from Belarus often comes with violations, including improperly documented or in poor sanitary conditions.

In January—August 2016 the experts of the Rosselkhoznadzor not allowed to cross the Russian-Belarusian border more than two hundred consignments of dairy and meat products. While data on the fate of rejected products (which would prevent re-sending in Russia) and punishing the culprits, to the Rosselkhoznadzor from Belarus is not received. The Russian authorities suspect that the grass-roots units of the Department of veterinary and food supervision of the Belarusian Ministry of agriculture are deliberately hiding this information from the Rosselkhoznadzor but also from his leadership.

“In addition, the negative dynamics of these violations indicates a formal approach to the exercise of its power to organize control over the movement of goods, the main state veterinary inspectors of some areas of Belarus (in particular, Minsk, Gomel, Vitebsk and Brest), which could lead to the introduction by Rosselkhoznadzor of temporary restrictions on import of products from these regions to Russia”, — underlined in the message of Rosselkhoznadzor.

At the end of August 2016, the Rosselkhoznadzor has announced temporary restriction of deliveries on territory of Russia of dairy products of Belarusian enterprises. At the same time, the Agency warned that in case of detection of new batches of products not complying with the veterinary and sanitary standards, may limit the supply of some other enterprises, including JSC “Savushkin product”.
