Vice President Joe Biden has warned Ukraine that it must do more to fulfil its pledges to pursue political and economic reforms, because otherwise, the EU may lift sanctions against Russia, writes Reuters.
“We know that if they give about the EU, there are at least five countries right now who are ready to say “we want out” of sanctions against Moscow”, — said Biden, speaking at the Council on foreign relations in new York.
These words Biden said after meeting in the UN with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, said the Agency.
According to the Vice-President, since 2014 he weekly spends two or three hours to communicate by phone with the Ukrainian leadership, calling strongly to reform, as well as putting pressure on Germany, France and Italy with the aim of preserving the anti-Russian sanctions.
According to Biden, in the EU, not everyone wants to fight for Ukraine. “In Europe, dominated by such sentiments, “Hey, to change the President, it [Ukraine] belonged to Russia, which they had their puppets. What’s the difference, who gives a fuck, why are you forcing us to participate in these sanctions,” — said Vice-President of the United States.
Earlier Wednesday, 21 September, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko and Joe Biden met in new York. After the President of Ukraine said that Washington was ready to provide Kiev $1 billion in loan guarantees. “Good news from new York. Ukraine will receive $1 billion loan guarantee. This was agreed at a meeting with Vice President Joseph Biden,” wrote Poroshenko on his page in Facebook.
