Moscow will seek a thorough investigation of the attack on a humanitarian convoy near Aleppo in Syria, said on Monday on air of TV channel NTV, foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
“I don’t want to blame anyone, just so we know how leading Western channels and CNN, and bi-Bi-si — falsify the facts, remember, showed what happened in Iraq a few years ago, were given for what is happening in Syria today, which, of course, here we are going to demand the most careful investigation,” Lavrov said (quoted by “RIA Novosti”).
A joint UN convoy and the Syrian Arab red Crescent (SARC) was shot on the night of 20 September in the North-West of the city of Aleppo. According to the International Committee of the red cross (ICRC), was destroyed by 18 trucks, killing one officer, SARC, and at least 20 civilians. The convoy, consisting of 31 of the truck, were marked with the logos of the UN and the SARC, and were held in Eastern districts of Aleppo, with the permission of Damascus and the armed opposition.
According to Lavrov, the US and its allies want to divert attention from the strikes of the coalition forces on the Syrian army near Deir ez-Zor. “The Americans and their Western allies want to divert attention not only from what happened in Deir ez-Zor, because I’m far from final some verdicts make it a habit of our Western partners,” Lavrov said in an interview with NTV.
The Minister recalled how in 2014, after in the sky over Donbass was shot down Malaysian Boeing, Russia demanded the investigation and that the UN security Council established a monitoring its progress. “American resolution passed, did not block, but said we still clear who did it”, — said the head of the Russian foreign Ministry. “Here here, when on 19 September was the attack on the humanitarian convoy, we demanded an investigation, and John Kerry, my good partner, it is not what I took and said that the investigation probably can be done, but we know who did it, did it the Syrian army or Russia, in any case, to blame Russia,” said Lavrov.
Speaking about the US’s fight against the “Islamic state” (LIH, a banned terrorist organization), Lavrov said that the West, led by Washington, in his opinion, fails to meet its obligations on Syria. According to the head of the Russian foreign Ministry, the us military is not too listen to U.S. President Barack Obama. “Obama supported, as I was always assured that the cooperation with Russia, he himself confirmed during a meeting with President [Vladimir] Putin in China. Apparently, the military is not too obey the Supreme commander,” — said Lavrov.
