The Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko has commented on reports of the impending resignation at a meeting of city government. “I ask all the talk about my possible care to stop it,” he said (quoted by “RIA Novosti”).

The mayor recalled that the Governor could leave his post “for several reasons”. “First, if residents won’t trust me and they trust me, as opinion polls show,” — said Poltavchenko.

“If the President of the Russian Federation, the only official who makes such a decision. This decision he did not take with me on this theme did not speak. And if I might want to leave your glorious ranks. I have no such desire, I want you to work as much as possible”, — concluded the Governor.
