The United States protects jihadist groups in Syria to those in the case helped Washington to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. This opinion was expressed by foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov in interview “bi-Bi-si”, timed to the first anniversary of operation of the Russian HQs in Syria.
The head of the Russian foreign Ministry explained that the United States violated its promise to separate the “Fateh al sham” (formerly “Front EN-Nusra”, banned in Russia) and other terrorist groups from the moderate opposition.
“They still haven’t done or don’t want to do it,” – said Lavrov. “We believe that the plan [the US] was to protect “front an-Nusra”. They [the US] never got stabbed by the “Nusra front” in any part of Syria”, – said Lavrov.
Russia launched a military operation in Syria on 30 September last year. Aviation videoconferencing supports the actions of the Syrian army against terrorist groups. On Friday, the Kremlin, commenting on the first anniversary of Russia’s operations in Syria, said that its main result is the absence of representatives of extremist organizations in the capital, Damascus.
