Russia’s FSB detained for espionage career officer of the Main intelligence Directorate of the defense Ministry of Ukraine for espionage Roman Sushchenko. This is stated in the message of the Center of public relations of FSB.
According to the FSB, Sushchenko is a Colonel. “The citizen of Ukraine purposefully collected state secret information on the activities of the Armed forces and of National guard troops of the Russian Federation, the leakage abroad could harm the defense of the state”, — reported in Department.
Against Sushchenko opened a criminal case under article 276 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (“Espionage”).
The statement of the Ukrainian “UKRINFORM” Sushchenko named a private Agency correspondent in France, who was on leave and came to Moscow “for private purposes”. According to the Agency, Sushchenko detained September 30, but his wife only found out about it 2 Oct.
“In violation of all international rules of his detention, the Russian side has not informed neither his wife nor diplomatic establishments or at the place of work, — reads the statement of the Agency. — “UKRINFORM” considers the detention Sushchenko, who worked at our Agency since 2002, as a correspondent in France since 2010, a well-planned provocation”.
