Putin called the purpose of Naryshkin in the RAF “welcome home”


President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, October 5, visited the Moscow headquarters of the foreign intelligence Service (SVR) and introduced the team’s new leader. He was a former speaker of the state Duma Sergey Naryshkin. Earlier Wednesday, Putin addressed the opening session of the state Duma of the seventh convocation, where he thanked Naryshkin for his work in Parliament.

Putin’s decree on the introduction of Naryshkin to head the SVR also came into force on Wednesday.

“You all know that he performed well in the intelligence, when it worked, and in politics. In this sense Sergey returns home,” — said Putin, speaking to members of the RAF (quoted by “Interfax”).

Naryshkin — the native of intelligence, studied in the 101st school of the First chief Directorate of the KGB with Putin, and then worked in Belgium.

Putin reminded that in addition to intelligence to Naryshkin elected speaker of the state Duma worked in government and was the head of the presidential administration, “has always been distinguished by high professionalism, responsibility and serious approach to any assigned task”.

The President signed a decree on the appointment of Sergey Naryshkin as the new head of the TFR on 22 September. He was succeeded by Mikhail Fradkov, who was nominated for the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Gazprom”. Place Naryshkin in the state Duma will take the former first Deputy of the presidential administration Vladislav Volodin and Volodina the chair was taken by the head of “Rosatom” Sergey Kiriyenko.
