The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine called himself a supporter of withdrawal from the CIS

Ukraine is considering the issue of withdrawal from the Commonwealth of independent States (CIS), told the TV channel “112 Ukraine” the head of the foreign Ministry of the country Pavlo Klimkin.

“We are studying the issue [of the CIS],” said Klimkin in response to a replica of the flagship program, noting that he opposes the country’s withdrawal from the CIS. “We have several dozen agreements relating, for example, mutual recognition of diplomas, pension payments. And we are now completing work that will allow us to settle these agreements,” — said the Minister. “I am a supporter of withdrawal from the CIS”, — he added.

Last year Klimkin said that the country’s withdrawal from the CIS is still untimely. However, he called CIS a “political club” and “Soviet legacy”.

“But if we pull out of the Commonwealth now, the agreement “will fall”, complicating the lives of thousands and thousands of people. First understand, and then we’ll take further steps. In addition, we participate in events of the CIS, when we need to achieve something”, — said Klimkin.
