A meeting of leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine, which is planned for October 19th, will take place only if, prior to that, “real progress” on key moments that cause the issue between the parties. This was told Reuters, a French diplomatic source.
To a journalist’s question, will there be a meeting in the “Normandy format” next week in Berlin, the spokesman said, “Must be followed by real progress, and leaders must come to an agreement, so we can not confirm that this [meeting] will happen.”
That Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia will meet in “Norman format” on 19 October, said on the eve of Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. Press Secretary of Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this, said that talking about October 19 as of the time of the meeting is premature.

Initially, Kiev was offered to hold a meeting in “Norman format” at the G20 summit in China. However, after the arrest in Crimea of Ukrainian saboteurs Putin said about the futility of negotiations in this format at the summit.
He later agreed to a trilateral meeting with Merkel and Hollande at the G20. The parties were to discuss the situation in Ukraine and further ways of cooperation in the framework of the “Norman format” and “Minsk process”.
