Iraqi commandos seized the TV building in Mosul


Conterfeiting military units of the Iraqi army involved in attack on Mosul, seized the building of the state television channel in the city, said the commander of an elite unit in an interview with Reuters.

The Agency notes that this is the first important building in Mosul which was occupied by the troops for the first time since the offensive started two weeks ago.

Informed the correspondent “Bi-bi-si”, which is located together with Iraqi forces, said that the military were able to occupy the Eastern outskirts of Mosul. According to him, the army encountered fierce resistance from the militants of the “Islamic state” (declared a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), which control the second largest city in the country since the summer of 2014.

The Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi on Monday, October 31, said that in Mosul there are 3,000 to 5,000 militants who have “no exit” — “either surrender or perish”.

On the eve of General Wissam Araji, who represents the US trained Iraqi special forces to combat terrorism, in a conversation with Reuters said that the troops involved in the liberation of Mosul, for the first time in two weeks since the beginning of operations entered the city.
