Tens of thousands of South Koreans staged a rally for the resignation of the President

In the centre of Seoul on Saturday, 5 November, brought together tens of thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of President Park Geun-Hye amid a corruption scandal involving her friend, according to South Korean Agency Yonhap.

According to police, the rally was attended by about 43 thousand demonstrators. The organizers claim that the rally not less than 100 thousand people.

It is also reported that the venue of the rally, there are about 20 thousand police officers, who were instructed not to provoke the protesters.

Protest takes place against the backdrop of fierce political scandal recently in South Korea. As it turned out, a close friend of the President named Choi sung-SIL, which do not hold public office, has made major changes to the President’s speech. The Park Geun-Hye did not deny the influence of his close. She admitted that she consulted with her in the preparation of speeches, especially at the early stage of his presidency, and made a public apology.

South Korean prosecutors had earlier questioned a friend of the President. On 3 November she was arrested.
