During his public speech, which was broadcast on Ukrainian television and was posted on the policy page in Facebook, Saakashvili stressed that the reason for his resignation was the inability to overcome the total corruption among the officials.

“I will not give up. I don’t get tired. May they not hope, if not expect to get rid of me… — said the politician. — How much for a complete victory and in order to rid Ukraine of this filth, this corruption of the dirt that capitalisim on the blood of our soldiers, the victims of the Maidan, which has betrayed the idea of the Ukrainian revolution and whose only motivation is to line their own pockets, to strengthen your clan and finally to Rob Ukraine.”

The representative of Saakashvili refused to comment on his future plans. Saakashvili himself was unavailable for comment. After the departure of Saakashvili acting head of the Odessa oblast will be his Deputy, 27 — year-old Salome Bobrovskaya.

At the same time. his resignation was announced by one of his colleagues — the chief of police of Odessa region General Giorgi Lortkipanidze. According to him, the reason for this was the difficult situation in the police and its staff changes.

Saakashvili was Governor of the Odessa region in may 2015. He received the citizenship of Ukraine the day before his inauguration on may 29. The assignment to the former President of Georgia, citizenship of Ukraine cost him his Georgian passport. Georgia prohibits dual nationality.

Conflict Governor

As Governor Saakashvili clashed with the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov. The basis of the political platform of the head of the region was based on the fight against corruption, Saakashvili has frequently accused the mayor of pandering or of involvement in illegal schemes of enrichment. This is most clearly the opposition of the Governor and mayor was manifested on the issue of privatization of Odessa portside plant. Saakashvili claimed that the transfer of enterprises into private property breaks down due to corrupt officials in Odessa and Kiev.

In the Ukrainian media Trukhanova referred to a person close to the large businessman Igor Kolomoisky, against whom also acted Saakashvili. In December 2015, the Governor of Odessa region had a fight with my ex at that time Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, accusing the government of delaying the reforms and corruption.

The action drew criticism even on the part of MPs, including supporters of Poroshenko. The Deputy head of the faction “Block of Petro Poroshenko”, the people’s Deputy Alexey Goncharenko said that Saakashvili used the Governor’s office in Odessa region as a springboard to further his political career. “For him the post of Governor has become toxic — you have to answer for the lack of any achievements, despite the flow of of loud statements” — explained the Deputy of the departure of Saakashvili as head of the region.

Goncharenko said that Saakashvili “is a born politician” in the future can act against Poroshenko, who on the recommendation of the government and appointed the former Georgian President, head of the Odessa region.

The former leader of Odessa “anti-Maidan” – Anton Davidchenko said that the resignation of Saakashvili could be caused by the operation, which was coordinated by the Kremlin official said Inal Ardzinba, chief counsel of the office of the President of Russia on CIS Affairs, which is headed by Vladislav Surkov. Earlier, Saakashvili and the head of the security service of Ukraine Vasily Gritsak has repeatedly accused Ardzinba that he coordinates the Pro-Russian forces in Odessa with the purpose of the “Bessarabian Republic.”

Future on a national scale

Goncharenko solidarity and Ukrainian politicians. They suggested that Saakashvili will focus on the development of their own political party to possible early elections to the Parliament. “Now Saakashvili is making plans for parliamentary elections in Ukraine, the creation of your faction. The goal is to become Prime Minister”, — said President of the Ukrainian Academy of political Sciences mikołaj Mikhalchenko.

In July, supporters of former Georgian President announced the creation of a new political party “Hvilya”. Saakashvili was one of the initiator of its education, although the formal relationship to it has not.

Mikhalchenko suggested that the parliamentary elections the party of the former Governor of the Odessa region can receive up to 10-15%. “Any protest movement will be a success. Now in Ukraine it is held back by war in the Donbass. The sooner calm down the situation in Donbass, the faster will the protests in Ukraine”, — the expert believes.

According to Ukrainian political analyst Alexei Kubasa for Saakashvili’s political career in Ukraine is the only possible option. The expert is sure that in six years of governorship Saakashvili have nothing to boast of, “in addition to PR campaigns and high-profile statements in Kyiv”, and announcing the resignation, he actually acknowledged its ineffectiveness. “He fought with walnut mafia, wine mafia, but nothing more than redistribution of the market, there has not occurred”, — said the analyst.

In Georgia, Saakashvili is involved in a number of criminal cases. Former head of state accused of, among other things, embezzlement of public funds and abuse of authority. In February 2015, Georgia demanded the extradition of Ukraine, but Kiev refused.

Political ambitions in Georgia was damaged in October of this year. Then the party of the former President of the “United national movement” received only 27% of the vote. For comparison, the winner — the ruling party “Georgian dream” managed to enlist the support of nearly 49% of voters.

Another possible candidate — the first Deputy head of the presidential administration Vitaliy Kovalchuk. In 2014, he headed the election headquarters of Poroshenko. The interviewee suggested that the way the Ukrainian President continues a policy of strengthening the vertical of power. “The conflict Saakashvili has already arisen, and the political ambitions of former head of Georgia Poroshenko was not satisfied,” — said the source
