Republicans gained a majority in the elections to the House of representatives


The results of the elections to the House of representatives are counted, but the Republican party has got enough space to control the lower house of Congress, reports the Associated Press.

According to preliminary data, the Republicans won 224 seats in the house. To win they had to get 218 seats, said The Washington Post.

In the current House of representatives, the Republicans control 247 seats. Thus, they retain control over the chamber.
