The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has no plans to face the winner of the US presidential election Donald trump, a telephone conversation was also not planned. Earlier Wednesday, the press service of the Kremlin reported that Putin sent Trump a congratulatory telegram, which wished him success on the post of the head of state and expressed hope that “joint efforts to develop Russian-American relations out of crisis”.

As explained by the Sands, such a congratulatory telegram “is consistent with the General Protocol of the interstate diplomatic practice.”

Peskov also said that trump’s statement about readiness to develop relations with all the countries concerned is absolutely consonant to the Russian position. “This is absolutely a phenomenal way consonant with the fundamental position, which was mentioned by Putin himself: that when the indisputable priority of national interests of the Russian Federation, we seek good relations with all countries that want to build such relations with us” — quoted Peskov “Interfax”.

Earlier Wednesday, speaking from first speech after winning the election, trump said that the United States will work with any country that wishes to cooperate with Washington.

However, as noted by Sands, trump’s victory in the elections does not mean that all contentious issues between Russia and the US will disappear.

Answering the journalists ‘ question about the possible lifting of sanctions, Peskov said: “It’s not our problem, it is a question of those countries which have introduced sanctions”. To mention the fact that sanctions were imposed because of the policy of Russia towards the Crimea, a Kremlin spokesman said that “Crimea is one of the regions of the Russian Federation”. “Recognition or non-recognition of this fact has no impact on de facto and, from our point of view, de jure state of Affairs,” — said the press Secretary (quoted by TASS).

The United States presidential election held on 8 November. Before the vote, according to polls, was leading Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton, however, during the counting of votes trump came forward. In the end, the Republican got more than the required 270 electoral votes and became the winner of the presidential race. Clinton called Trump and conceded defeat in the elections. With his statement she should act the next day, said her staff.
