Starting contacts on Syria with people who, probably, will go to the team of the elected President of the USA of Donald trump. This was stated by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov.
“It is an important turning point: a new team of President-elect Donald trump. We now start the contacts with people who are likely to help the new President,” Bogdanov said (quoted by “Interfax”).
“We hope that the outgoing and the incoming administration will proceed from the fact that without Russia, the Syrian problem is impossible to solve, ready to open, candid dialogue,” the diplomat added.
Last week, November 10, the Russian foreign Ministry acknowledged for the first time that had contact with the team of trump before the election. “Contacts” — said Deputy Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview to “Interfax”.
The Kremlin said that contacts with the team trump was not, and the first meeting of the elected President of the United States with Vladimir Putin took place on Monday, November 14. In a statement released by the team trump’s statement said that “during the conversation, both leaders discussed a number of issues, including the threats and challenges faced by the United States and Russia, the strategic economic issues and historical relations between the US and Russia, which for 200 years.”
During the election, the opponents of the trump accused him of sympathizing with Putin. Himself elected President of the United States said that it will be able to establish a dialogue with the Russian President better than Obama. He also said that for the United States greater threat in Syria is banned in Russia grouping “Islamic state” (ISIS), and not the Assad regime, which Western leaders have accused Moscow. The same position he reiterated in his first interview after the election, proposing “to abandon the current policy of the Obama administration”.
In early October, U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry announced the suspension of talks with Russia on Syria and accused Moscow of failing to observe obligations under the agreement on the ceasefire in Syria, which was reached on 9 September. In particular, the head of the state Department has laid on Russia responsible for the aggravation of the situation in Aleppo. The Russian foreign Ministry in response accused Washington of reneging on its commitments on delimitation in Syria, the moderate opposition and terrorists.
