Investigators opened a criminal case against General FSO

The investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened a criminal case against the head of the Federal security service (FSS) in the Caucasus, General Gennady Lopyreva. This is the official website of the Department.

From the message a press-services, it follows that Lopyreva is accused of taking bribes in especially large amount (part 6, item 290 of the criminal code), managers of commercial organizations for the protection at the conclusion and execution of state contracts for carrying out repair and construction works.

Punishment under article provides for a fine up to five million rubles or imprisonment for up to 15 years with a fine up to 70-fold amount of the bribe or without. Also the accused may lose the right to practice certain activities for up to 15 years.

According to the Agency, currently Lopyrev detained.

General security service in the Caucasus FSO Gennady Lopyrev was arrested after an internal audit, which revealed “serious violations of the law”. The source familiar with the investigation, said that Lopyreva was detained November 24, after which he was taken in for questioning.

According to the source “Interfax”, the General the FSO was detained red-handed “during the search he seized a large sum of money.” Familiar with the situation source TASS said that we are talking about the amount of “more than 1 million rubles.”

Commentary channel, the lawyer of accused Ruslan Zakaluzny told that Lopyrev does not admit his guilt. “The charges related to his activities directly,” said the defender, without explaining the details of the case because of a gag order. The lawyer added that today, 25 November, “will address the issue of the measure of restraint in the garrison military court”.
