The threshold is not duty-free purchases in online stores in the countries of the Eurasian economic Union (EAEU) may be reduced from €1 thousand to €500 a year after the entry into force of the Customs code of the EAEU. A year later, the threshold can be reduced to €200. About it writes on Tuesday the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to the representative of the Ministry of economic development.
The Directive to reduce the cost of Internet packages, is not dutiable in the EAEU, the Eurasian intergovernmental Council gave the Eurasian economic Commission (EEC) of November 16, explained to the edition, representatives of the Ministry of economic development and ECE.
According to the newspaper, the Finance Ministry expects that the code will come into force in mid-2017. Then the threshold will be reduced to €500 by the middle of 2018, the newspaper explained the representative of the JAC.
Currently in Russia are duty free parcels whose total value during the month does not exceed €1 thousand, and their weight – 31 lbs. Over that amount, the fee is 30%, but not less than €4 per 1 kg.
Discussions about reducing the tax-free threshold from €1 thousand have been conducted since 2014. In 2015, the Eurasian economic Commission is considering several options to reduce the duty-free threshold value, in particular up to €150 and up to 10 kg, and a fixed fee of €25 for the cheaper packages.
This spring a proposal to reduce the duty-free threshold was made by the Federal customs service (FCS). Its head Andrei Belyaninov specific figures not known, but cited the example of Belarus, which established similar to the European standards at €22, which can be imported duty-free goods.
