Lavrov has described as nonsense reports of Russian plans to destabilize the situation in Germany

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said the information about the attempts of Russia to destabilize the situation in Germany is nonsense. He stated that following the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers of the OSCE in Hamburg, reports “RIA Novosti”.

“I think the Chancellor [of Germany Angela] Merkel publicly commented on this nonsense and called them nonsense. There is nothing that I can add,” said Lavrov.

He also said that he heard that the chief editor of the German newspaper Bild called him a “war criminal” and urged the German foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to stop all communications with him. German media “in terms of Russophobia ahead of the rest”, concluded the Minister.

Thursday, 8 December, the head of the Federal service for the protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany Hans-Georg Maassen in an interview with Reuters said that the intelligence agencies of Germany recorded a growth of “aggressive cyber-espionage” on the part of Russia that could pose a threat to members of the German government, Parliament and democratic parties. On the eve of parliamentary elections in Germany expect growth in cyber-attacks from groups of hackers of APT 28, also known as Fancy Bear, said Maassen.

In addition, he reported that the German counterintelligence there is evidence that Russia is prepared to use a lot of “propaganda tools” and “huge financial resources” to the German campaign of disinformation to destabilize the country and “to sow uncertainty in society.”
