The media learned about the intention of Japan to ease sanctions against Russia

Japan announced the easing of the visa regime with Russia. Such decision will be made during the talks of President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on December 15. It is reported by the Asahi newspaper, citing its sources.

The publication notes that the relaxation of the visa regime is actually “softens sanctions”, which Tokyo has imposed on Moscow in 2014. According to the newspaper, the changes will affect long-term visas, the validity of which may be increased from three to five years. This will allow multiple entries into the country.

According to the publication, in case of success in the negotiations, Japan can actually reverse the decision, which was suspended several consultations with Russia. Asahi writes that the intention of Abe to ease visa regime is due to his desire to advance in the achievement of economic cooperation, the plan of which the Prime Minister presented to the President in may of this year.
