Tyumen blogger was sentenced to two years in prison for post about Syria

Tyumen blogger Alexei Kungurov was charged under part 1 of article 205.2 of the criminal code “public calls for terrorism or public justification”. Visiting College of the Volga district military court found him guilty and sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment in a colony settlement. This was reported by the wife of the convicted Asiya Bychikhina.

“Information is now very short, I only know that he [Alexey Kungurova – ed.] awarded two years in a penal colony. Since February, Alex was under house arrest, and in June he changed the measure of restraint to detention center. All the while he is in jail № 1 in Tyumen,” — said Bychikhina.

As the lawyer said kungurova Alexander Zyryanov, the defense intends to appeal the verdict: “We will appeal in the military Collegium of the Supreme court. Plan to do this in the beginning of next week. We’ve got 10 days”.

The criminal case against kungurova was initiated in March because of a post in “Live Journal” with the headline “Who really bombed the falcons Putin,” in which the blogger was criticizing the actions of the Russian army in Syria.
