Shoigu announced the abolition of Spetsstroy


Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the abolition of the Federal Agency for special construction Spetsstroy. Instead, it will create eight Federal state unitary enterprises which are engaged in the construction of special objects of the Ministry of defense. About it reports TASS.

According to the Minister, reform military-a building complex will provide the execution of works mostly by private enterprises.

“There is a serious reform of the military-construction complex. Spetsstroy is abolished in the Armed forces included eight Federal state unitary enterprises that perform the task of building a just special objects of the Ministry of defence,” — said Shoigu.

The Minister stressed that the reform eliminates the presence of middlemen in the implementation of government contracts for construction. According to him, the reform will also reduce the number of administrative staff in half.

A source in the defense Ministry told that the entire staff of the abolished Federal Agency for special construction Spetsstroy be further employed. How this will be implemented, the source did not elaborate.

That the President of Russia Vladimir Putin decided to abolish the special construction, in late November, citing sources the newspaper “Kommersant”. The decision was taken during a closed meeting with the leadership of the military. The publication notes that the questions to the Spetsstroy appeared in 2015 after near Omsk collapsed barracks, and the first launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome was postponed to April 2016 due to delays in construction.
