Poroshenko urged Ukrainians not to repeat the mistakes of a century ago

In his new year address to the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called the 2017 special.

“This is the centenary year of the Ukrainian national revolution,” the President said.

“But then the Ukrainians, instead, to unite against external threats, fought among themselves. Now, if you don’t make conclusions, mindless political confrontation can easily return the economy back in its peak. Policy — plunge into anarchy. And the country — to make prey of the aggressor,” — said Poroshenko.

He also said that important lessons of history we should not forget even new year’s eve. “I have learned. Other people’s mistakes — not repeat. And others will not give”, — said Poroshenko.

The President also noted as an achievement that last year the country bought gas from Russia.

“For the first time in the history of not bought a single cubic meter of gas from Russia — and this is a big step to energy independence!”, he said.
