The foreign Ministry condemned the pressure on Spain to ban the admission of “Admiral Kuznetsov”

Russian Deputy foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov called accomplices of the terrorists who tried to exert pressure on Spain to ban Russian avanessa cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” to enter the ports of this country to refuel.

“It was an attempt to put pressure on Spain to prevent the sunset of our ships in Spanish ports. Those who do the supporters of ISIS (declared a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), those who support terrorism,” he said (quoted by “Interfax”), adding that the naval group was sent to Syria to combat terrorism.

“Those who put pressure on Spain, bear the full responsibility. We just said, in the European Union and asked for clarification,” — said Meshkov.

At the end of October it was reported that the aircraft carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, bound to the coast of Syria, had to go to the Spanish port of Ceuta to refuel. European politicians, in particular the head of the Alliance of liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament, guy Verhofstadt, and former British defence Secretary Gerald Howarth, has criticized Spain’s decision to take Russian ships. Reuters, citing the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Spain wrote that the Agency is considering refueling “Admiral Kuznetsov” in Ceuta for fear of NATO, that Russian warships could be used for attacks on civilians.

The defense Ministry later denied the plans of approach “Admiral Kuznetsov” in the Spanish ports. The Ministry then clarified that he had not forwarded relevant requests to the Spanish authorities. “Interfax” with reference to sources wrote that to refuel ships can ship accompanying a group of tankers.
