Le Pen is the third time in six months promised to recognize the Russian Crimea

The candidate in presidents of France, the leader of “National front” marine Le Pen has once again promised to recognize the Crimea a part of Russia. This time she declared it in interview to the newspaper “Izvestia”.

“Yes, after the referendum, which showed the consent of the people to join Russia, I also recognize the Crimea part of the Russian Federation. The affiliation of Crimea to Ukraine was merely an administrative issue of Soviet times, the Peninsula was never Ukrainian,” she said.

About that’s what she said January 3 in an interview with BFMTV. Then she said that the annexation of Crimea to Russia was not “illegal”. “I don’t believe that it was an illegal annexation: there was a referendum, the residents of Crimea wanted to join Russia,” — said Le Pen.

This statement provoked a sharp reaction in Kyiv, which threatened to close her entry on the territory of Ukraine.

In September 2016 in an interview with RIA Novosti, Le Pen also promised that if elected President she recognizes the annexation of Crimea.

Before that, Le Pen also advocated the recognition of the annexation of Crimea to Russia.

As previously mentioned , in February 2016, the newspaper The Times, citing the statement of the Treasurer of the National front, announced that the party has applied for financial assistance to Russia. For financing of election campaign of the President and deputies of Parliament of the party had to seek a €27 million in a situation when the French banks refuse to provide loans.

The publication also refers to the radio station Europe 1, whose sources in the Kremlin said that Russia is likely to comply with a request from Le Pen. In November 2014, Le Figaro reported that the party of Le Pen agreed on a loan of €9 million in the First Czech-Russian Bank (pcrb). The publication claimed that the agreement was reached in September 2014, and information about the agreement confirmed natsfronta Treasurer Vallerand de Saint-just.
