According to the newspaper, the Kremlin is not so sure that relations with the U.S. if trump will be able to improve in a short time. “The initial euphoria about the fact that the White house will be a fan of Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin was replaced by skepticism,” reports Bloomberg, citing four senior officials in Moscow.
The reason for this became some of the statements of the elected President of the United States: in particular, his words about the need to strengthen the American nuclear potential, as well as a recent interview with European media, in which trump has tied the possible easing of sanctions against Russia disarmament talks.
“There is a noticeable shift in terms of expectations from trump in the Kremlin”, — quotes Bloomberg the Director close to the Kremlin, the Center for political conjuncture Alexei Chesnakov. “The Russian leadership now sees that the restoration of relations will be difficult”, — he added.
During the election campaign in the U.S. trump had predicted its relations with Russia. Thus, on 8 September, the billionaire suggested that he would be “very, very good relationship with Putin.” Three months earlier the candidate of the Republican party in an interview with Reuters said, “I think I have a good relationship with Russia, but may be wrong. And what Putin said about me good things, does not mean that it will help him in the negotiations. Yes, ultimately does not help”.
In the same interview, trump made the following comments on “Russian presence in Ukraine”: “I don’t like it. I really don’t like it.”
Officially, Moscow did not comment on trump’s statement regarding Russia: “Let’s be patient, wait for the moment of accession of Mr. trump in the position of the incumbent, and then we will evaluate the different initiatives,” called Sands.
