In Moscow shortly before the elections to the state Duma was suppressed the activity of a terrorist group. She planned to commit “terrorist acts on the territory of the city.” About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the head of the Moscow police Oleg Baranov.
According to him, the group consisted of eight people, “they identify themselves to a terrorist organization”.
The police of Moscow reported that in 2016 the effectiveness of terrorist crimes has grown by 86%. The chief architect Oleg Baranov added that the number of extremist crimes in the capital fell last year by 14% in comparison with 2015.
In the past year, the FSB regularly reported about the detention of alleged terrorists. On 15 December the service reported that in the capital were detained citizens of Tajikistan and Moldova, prepared by order of the emissary of the banned terrorist organization “Islamic state” (ISIS) terrorist attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg. On 29 December it became known about detention of seven ISIS supporters in Dagestan, which has also planned attacks in the capital.
In early December last year, President Vladimir Putin said that for ten months of 2016, the FSB managed to prevent ten attacks and more than 30 terrorism-related crimes. As noted by the head of the state security services acted “offensive and decisively” and made one of the most important tasks of the year — provided security during the preparation and conduct of elections to the State Duma.
