Mexican President Enrique peña Nieto announced the cancellation of the meeting with the US President Donald trump, which was scheduled for January 31. He wrote about this in his Twitter.
“This morning I notified the White House that I don’t take part in a working meeting with the President of the United States, scheduled for next Tuesday,” he wrote.
According to Nieto, Mexico is ready to continue cooperation with the United States, which will benefit both countries.
Earlier on 26 January about possible cancellation of a meeting with the President of Mexico wrote trump. He said that a meeting should cancel if “Mexico is not going to pay for much-needed wall.” On the eve of the US President has signed a decree on the protection of the state border according to which on the border with Mexico to begin construction of the walls. According to him the construction of the wall will begin in a few months. Trump also emphasized that Mexico is guaranteed to reimburse US for the construction of the wall, and the negotiations with the Mexican side will begin “very soon”.
Nieto on Thursday reiterated that Mexico will not pay for this wall. Mexican politicians had previously urged him to cancel the visit to the United States.
