The Prime Minister of Bavaria and leader of the Christian social Union (CSU), which together with the party of Angela Merkel’s Christian democratic Union (CDU) part of the ruling coalition CDU/CSU, Horst Seehofer called for the abolition of anti-Russian sanctions. Such a statement he made in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.
In his opinion, it should be clearly understood that there are different points of view about, including the annexation of Crimea to Russia, and to strive for sound economic relations. “Sanctions against Russia should be lifted this year. Russia needs to return to the G8. We need to get out of the block thinking the twentieth century. We should focus on finding joint answers to the problems of terrorism, migration and climate change,” added the Prime Minister of Bavaria.
Merkel herself said earlier that sanctions against Russia should remain until, until you complete the Minsk agreement. The day before the same position was voiced by the new foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel.
