LUKOIL is counting on the liberalization of the gas market, writes the newspaper “Vedomosti”. The publication refers to a letter written in October of last year, Vice President of the company’s exploration Ilya Mandrik to the Ministry.
It outlines the company’s proposals to be developed by the Ministry the project of strategy of development of mineral resources base of Russia until 2030. In the document seen by the newspaper, Mandrik requests in the “list of priorities of state policy aimed at improving the competitiveness of the industry” to include “the liberalization of the gas market, as well as access to the shelf.”
The publication notes that so far the company had no claims to “Gazprom”, and sources close to the company claimed that LUKOIL did not insist on the liberalization of the gas market unlike other independent gas producers Rosneft and NOVATEK.
The Ministry the fact of receiving from LUKOIL of proposals for the revision of the development strategy of the mineral resource base of Russia until 2030 was confirmed, however, refused to comment on their content.
The representative of LUKOIL did not specify how exactly the company offers to liberalize the natural gas market is to abolish government regulation of domestic prices or to liberalise access to the domestic and export fronts.
Prior to that, the idea of liberalization of the gas market was only Rosneft and NOVATEK.
