Putin said “nondecreasing activity” of foreign intelligence services in Russia


Vladimir Putin said in a speech at the Collegium of the FSB that the activity of foreign intelligence services in Russia is not reduced. The President shows the TV channel “Russia 24”.

According to Putin, in 2016, the FSB prevented the activities of 53 employees and agents 386.

The President stressed that in this regard to counter-intelligence agencies increased demands. He added that “it is important to neutralize attempts by foreign intelligence services to access private information, particularly in the field of military-technical potential of our country.”

In mid-January, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported on the attempt by American intelligence to recruit the adviser-envoy of Embassy of Russia in Washington. According to him, the incident occurred in April 2016. Later in February, Lavrov said that efforts to recruit diplomats are being made not only in the United States. He explained that representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission “often work in very difficult conditions, and sometimes openly hostile situation.”
