Attempts of the Pentagon to build a dialogue with Russia with the “position of power” are “hopeless”. This was stated by defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, reports “RIA Novosti”.
He was commenting on a statement by the new Pentagon chief James Mattis, who yesterday, February 15, urged NATO to continue negotiations with Russia. However, he added that “at the same time, we are realistic in our expectations and recommendations of our diplomats to negotiate from a position of strength”.
Shoigu drew attention to the fact that, on Thursday, February 16, in Baku will host a meeting of chief of the General staff of the Russian Armed forces Valery Gerasimov with his American counterpart Joseph Denford. At this meeting Russia “is waiting for clarification of the position of the Pentagon,” said Shoigu.
