Yanukovych has invited world leaders to hold a referendum on the Donbass

The ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych proposed to hold a referendum on the status of Donbass for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the region. This is stated in his address to world leaders, and heads of the Council of Europe, PACE and the European Parliament promulgated during an interview he gave to a group of Russian and Ukrainian journalists.

“Include in the negotiations in the “Norman format” representatives of the protesting parties, representing the people of Donbass, and in the event of failure of the current Ukrainian authorities of the Minsk agreements to initiate a referendum on the status of Donbass”, — the statement says Yanukovych (quoted by “Interfax”).

The call is addressed to, as reported by “RIA Novosti”, the presidents of Russia, USA, Germany and France Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the head of PACE Pedro Agramunt, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani.
